Eileen Nason Cambon of Vancouver, herself a medical doctor, sent requests for biographical information to more than 600 B.C. women doctors from 1999 to 2000, resulting in some 160 responses to partially comprise her unprecedented anthology, Uppity Women We Are! 100-Year History of Medical Women of British Columbia (1893-1993). She starts her self-published history from the year when the first female doctor--Dr. Mary McNeil--was registered to practice in the province. The 536-page, large format book contains contributions and profiles from and about more than 325 female physicians. We learn the first female neurologist in B.C. was Dr. Ludmila Zeldowicz who had been a doctor in the Warsaw ghetto. [Unpriced] 978-0-9694983-1-5 c/o 4346 Locarno Crescent, Vancouver, BC V6R 1G3
