Shelley Boyd, as a Canadian literature specialist in the Department of English at Kwantlen Polytechnic University, explored the use of the garden motif in the works of Canadian authors Susanna Moodie, Catharine Parr Traill, Gabrielle Roy, Carol Shields and Lorna Crozier for her first book, Garden Plots: Canadian Women Writers and Their Literary Gardens (McGill-Queens 2013). Boyd looks at associations between writing and gardening and the role of the female gardener. The book launch was held at Vandusen Botanical Gardens.
