After leaving his much-loved homeland of South Africa, Lawrence Feuchtwanger immigrated to Canada in 1976 after two years of living in England and travelling across Africa. He has been a journalist, tree-planter, baker and counseller. After forty years in Vancouver he moved to Gabriola Island with his wife in 2016. His first collection of poems, Refugee Song (Signature Editions, 2014) weaves fragmented stories from Feuchtwanger's South African childhood, youth and self-exile with the stories of other displaced and dispossessed people.
