Writer, poet, and editor Alisa Gordaneer has taught at UBC, University of Victoria, Camosun College and Royal Roads University. She worked as a newspaper editor for both Victoria's Monday magazine and Detroit's Metro Times. She is a member of the League of Canadian Poets and the Creative Nonfiction Collective Society. Gordaneer lives in Victoria.
Still Hungry (Signature Editions 2015) is her fourth published collection of poetry. Its subject is the complicated relationship that contemporary foodies have with food, hunger and desire. The poems reflect on a society where food abundance and starvation co-exist; where we Instagram our meals and then resist eating to pay penance for having eaten at all. Food is not just about eating and survival. It plays an essential role in our well-being. Still Hungry explores the many metaphors of food.
