Edited from WRITERS AND BOOKS: COMOX VALLEY, 1865-2015.

Kim Cattrall was born in 1956 in Liverpool where her mother was a secretary and her father a construction engineer. Her family emigrated to Courtenay when she was three months old. At 11, she returned to England with her family (but would go back to Courtenay at age 16 to finish high school at G.P. Vanier Secondary). While in England, Cattrall took a number of acting examinations with the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts. She is probably best known for her award winning role as Samantha Jones in the series Sex and the City and for her leading roles in the 80s films Police Academy, Mannequin, and Porky's. Kim received a star on Canada's Walk of Fame in Toronto and was recognized on Comox Valley Walk of Achievement (2012).
