Monica Nawrocki lives on Cortes Island, where she wrote the YA novel, Full Moon Lagoon (Friesen Press 2015). Nawrocki describes herself as an educator who believes that historical fiction for kids should be fun but that it should also open doors of communication.

Full Moon Lagoon is a fast-paced adventure story in which three 12 year-olds time travel back to 1941 to experience first hand the Japanese Canadian internment as it played out on Cortes Island, the setting for a story that blends magic with history.
