Born in Winnipeg in 1908, Duncan graduated from the University of Manitoba in 1931. His Medicine, Madams and Mounties: Stories of a Yukon Doctor, 1933-1947 (Raincoast Books, 1989) recalls the former Dawson Creek physician's experiences. He lived in Kerrisdale and died on October 2, 1998. Co-written with Geoffrey Molyneux, his book is significant as the first to carry the Raincoast Books imprint. It has a foreword by Pierre Berton.
