Born on October 1, 1950 in Montreal, Don Bailey moved to B.C. in 1972. He gained a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology and in 1988 he became the University of Victoria's coordinator for the Professional Writing Co-operative Education Program. He has also worked as a journalist, a business writer and has reviewed career books for the Financial Post. His debut novel Fire Eyes was a finalist for the 1987 W.H. Smith/Books in Canada First Novel Award. His second novel, Healing the Dead, was translated into German as Todliche Ahnungen. The Good Lie (Turnstone 2007) is a thriller that arises from a tragic accident in Victoria's Mouat Channel.
