Written by two paleontologists, the revised West Coast Fossils (Harbour 1998 $18.95) by Rolf Ludvigsen and Graham Beard uses maps, charts and fossil photographs to imagine what creatures inhabited Vancouver Island during the Cenozoic, Mesozoic and Paleozoic eras. Rolf Ludvigsen was a geology professor at the University of Toronto for twelve years, then moved to Denman Island, B.C. He is an adjunct professor in the School of Earth and Ocean Sciences at University of Victoria, a consulting paleontologist, and the founding chair of the British Columbia Paleontological Alliance.
