Born in Edmonton in 1953, Trevor Boddy graduated in Architecture from the University of Calgary and edited a special issue of Prairie Forum devoted to Prairie architecture in 1980. He is an architecture critic and historian whose Architecture of Douglas Cardinal (NeWest, 1989) was named Alberta Book of the Year in 1990. His Modern Architecture of Alberta (1987) has also been followed by a comprehensive, supportive book on Blue Sky architecture of the West Coast called House Design: Helliwell + Smith Blue Sky Architecture (1999) with a preface by Peter Davey. It contains 108 pages of tasteful, hardcover hype for the achievements of distinctly West Coast house architects Bo Helliwell and Kim Smith. Their designs are mainly exhibited on the Gulf Islands (particularly Hornby) and at Whistler.
