Born in Vancouver in 1937, Glen Sorestad moved to Saskatchewan in 1947. Having acquired his M.Ed at the University of Saskatchewan, he taught until 1981. As president and co-founder of Thistledown Press, he became a major figure in the literature of the Prairies. In 2001 he was named Poet Laureate of Saskatchewan, the first provincial Poet Laureate to be officially recognized in Canada.
