Home
Robert E. Cail completed this study in 1955 as a graduate student in History at the University of British Columbia. While working on his Ph.D. dissertation at the University of Minnesota, he was killed in an automobile collision. He is survived by his wife and a son born after his death.
Author of the first book to receive the Eaton's B.C. Book Award:
Land, Man and the Law, The Disposal of Crown Land in British Columbia, 1871-1913. (1955; University of British Columbia Press, 1974). The three chapters in which Cail explores Aboriginal land claims gives crucial background information to help understand the present debate on the topic.
