Sherrill MacLaren reveals the nature of the power women seek in Canada, how they acquire it in 'a man's world,' and what they have done with it in Invisible Power: The Women Who Run Canada (Seal, 1991). Her study is based on 400 interviews and profiles with senior executives, politicians, media personnel, etc. A former nurse and broadcaster, she is also the author of a non-fiction saga, Braehead: Three Founding Families in Nineteenth Centurh Canada (M&S, 1986). She has lived in Vancouver with her husband Grant Woodward MacLaren.
