Kenyan-born journalist and linguist Isabel Nanton is the author of Discover Canada: British Columbia (Scholastic). She writes feature stories and book reviews for North American daily newspapers and teaches specialized journalism workshops at the Western Academy of Photography in Victoria. She taught travel writing for 20 years at UBC and co-authored, with Mary Simpson, a Sierra Club guide, Adventuring in British Columbia, that remained in print for 12 years. She also speaks Swahili and French.
