As the son of Joe Bulman, founder of the Circle J an dother ranches, Alex Bulman wrote Kamloops Cattlemen: One Hundred Years of Trail Dust! (Gray's Pub. Ltd., 1972), a history of the ranching business in Kamloops. It was reissued by Sono Nis Press in 1993. It contends that the most integral settlers of early British Columbia were not the fur traders or gold miners, but rather the cattlemen who fed them--and stayed.
