Born January 2, 1954, in Dawson Creek, B.C., Burkinshaw has been a Dean of the Faculty of the Humanities and Social Sciences at Trinity Western University. He wrote Pilgrims in Lotus Land: Conservative Protestantism in British Columbia, 1917-1981 (McGill-Queens Press, 1995), an exploration of evangelicalism in B.C. during the twentieth century. Earlier he wrote False Creek: History, Images, and Research Sources (Vancouver Archives, 1984).
