Jana Williams grew up in Arizona and spent three years in the U.S. Navy. Her first novel, Scuttlebutt, depicts the sexual awakening of a recruit named Roberta Weston among 75 women in an inhospitable U.S. Navy bootcamp. Williams came to Canada in 1975 and managed a business for eleven years.

Her second book, Freefall (self-published 2018) is volume 1 of the Amalie Noether Chronicles.
