William (Bill) Kay was the special assistant to Premier William Vander Zalm, functioning as his chauffeur. He worked for the Premier from 1986 until 1989 and was part of his support team when Vander Zalm successfully ran for the Social Credit leadership at the Whistler convention. Kay wrote a little-known memoir of his experiences in the topsy-turvy world of B.C. politics.
