Born in Steinback, Manitoba in 1955, and raised in Manitoba of Mennonite heritage, Lynnette D'anna graduated from the Creative Communications Program with a major in Journalism from Winnipeg's Red River College, and studied for several years in the College of Education at the University of Saskatchewan. She lived in Vancouver several years in the early 1990s prior to returning to Winnipeg. Her fiction in Ragtimebone (New Star 1994) concerns four teenagers trying to overcome smalltown upbringings and dysfunctional families. Under the name Lynnette Dueck she also published her first book, sing me no more (Press Gang, 1992). More recent titles include fool's bells and Belly Fruit.
