Benito de la Sierra was a priest who accompanied the first European expedition to make landfall in the Pacific Northwest, in present-day Washington state, in 1775. Although it's not contained as a separate book, the little-known text is significant enough to merit inclusion in this data base as 'The Hezeta Expedition to the Northwest Coast in 1775' (California Historical Society Quarterly 9: 201-242 pp.). [See Hezeta entry]
