Privately printed, A Place Called Pennask (1977) provides a capsule history of the Pennask Lake Company and the Pennask Lake Fishing and Game Club. With a foreword by Lee Straight and a tribute by Roderick Haig-Brown, Read, a UBC English professor and ardent fisherman, also wrote an appreciation of fishing expert Tommy Brayshaw (1977).
