Laura Marie Boyd is a Nazko band member who has published a story about a young girl and her grandmother gathering food in a traditional way, 'Utsoo and I (Si' ink'ez' Utsoo) (Anahim Lake: Ulgatcho Indian Band, 1990). This children's story in Ulkatcho Carrier and English contains a recipe for nawus (Indian ice-cream) and was translated into Ulkatcho Carrier by Janie Jack, Bella Leon, Gertie Leon, Mack Squinas, Rose Squinas, Jimmy Stillas, Leona Toney and Jennifer West. Boyd's other books for children are My Home Forever (Quesnel: Nazko Indian Band, 1989) and For Someone Special (Quesnel: Nazko Indian Band, 1990). Having received her B.A. in First Nations Studies from the University of Northern British Columbia in 1998, she has served as a member of the Board of Trustees of the College of New Caledonia and devotes much of her time to teaching Dakelh language and culture.
