Born in 1946, Lee Lakeman is a longtime British Columbian who wrote Canada's Promises to Keep: The Charter and Violence Against Women (Vancouver: CASAC, 2004, $20), as part of a five-year project of the Canadian Association of Sexual Assault Centres to unite Canadian feminist anti-violence groups, using shared crisis work, shared research and shared political activity. The 1993 Violence Against Women Survey found that 51 percent of Canadian women experienced at least one incident of physical or sexual violence since age 16. 0-9734919-0-6
