Former RCAF pilot R.J. Childerhose and Marjorie Trim co-wrote Pacific Salmon and Steelhead Trout (Douglas & McIntyre, 1979). He also wrote a novel about his wartime experiences, Splash One Tiger (M&S, 1967), as well as The F-86 Sabre, Famous Aircraft Series, 25649, (New York, Arco Publishing, 1965, 1966; Aero Publishing, 1987) and Hockey Fever in Goganne Falls (Macmillan, 1973), a story about boys' midget hockey. His novel attacking violence in hockey is Winter Racehorse (Peter Martin, 1968), the story of a rookie superstar. Other works include a novel Fighter Pilot (M&S, 1965) and The Man Who Wanted to Save Canada: A Prophetic Novel (Victoria: Hoot Productions, 1975).
