Born in Cumberland, B.C. on May 30, 1970, Lance Blomgren is a graduate of the Creative Writing program at the University of Victoria, and the Masters of English program at Concordia University, Montreal. From 2001-2004, he taught English Literature and Creative Arts at CEGEP John Abbott College, outside Montreal. In 2005, he began working as the Co-Director/Curator of the Helen Pitt Gallery in Vancouver. His writing has appeared in Matrix magazine (Montreal), Geist (Vancouver), Spur (Calgary), Slingshot (New York/Montreal), Ascent (Montreal), Fillip (Vancouver), Art Asia Pacific (New York), Terminal City (Vancouver), and in publications for Truck Gallery (Calgary)and eyelevel gallery (Halifax). He has shown text-based art projects for art galleries and events in Montreal, Calgary, Vancouver, Banff, Chicago and Berlin.
