BIOGRAPHICAL DETAILS: Sid Tafler has written professionally for newspapers, magazines and Websites and authored drama, fiction and poetry. Tafler has served as Editor of Monday Magazine, writer for major magazines in Canada and the US, columnist for the Globe and Mail and commentator on CBC Radio, BCTV and CKNW. Author of the memoir Us and Them, Tafler has edited and contributed to several other books, including Child Growth and Development (McGraw Hill, 1998), The Story of the Butchart Gardens (Highline Publishing, 1996), The Encyclopedia of British Columbia (Harbour Publishing, 2000), Alberta in the Twentieth Century (United Western Communications, 2002). Tafler also maintains an interest in theatre, working as an actor, playwright and producer. His play Ghost on the Road was critically acclaimed at the 1997 Victoria Fringe Festival. He has taught writing and journalism at the University of Victoria, Camosun College, Mount Royal College, the Western Academy of Photography and the Victoria School of Writing. He served as writer-in-residence at the Festival of the Written Arts in Sechelt, B.C. and president of the Professional Writers Association of Canada.
