A former manager of the natural history section at the Royal BC Museum and a founding member of the Canadian Association for Underwater Science, James A. Cosgrove is a leading expert on the giant Pacific octopus and first began scuba diving in 1959. He is the co-author, along with photographer Neil MacDaniel, of Super Suckers: The Giant Pacific Octopus and Other Cephalopods of the Pacific Coast (Harbour, 2009). He lives in Victoria, B.C.
