Derek Reimer edited The Gulf Islanders (Provincial Archives Aural History Program, 1976) and he was the longest serving editor within the Sound Heritage Series for the Provincial Archives. The Sound Heritage series produced titles from 1974 to 1984. The first editor was William J. (Bill) Langlois (1974-1978). Reimer was an assistant editor (1974-1978), an editor (1978-1982) and supervising editor (1982-1984).

Charles Lillard was an editor (1982-1983); Janet Cauthers was an assistant editor (1974-1980) and an associate editor (1980-1981); Allen Specht was an assistant editor (1976) and an associate editor (1981-1982); David Mitchell was an assistant editor (1979-1980) and an associate editor (1980-1981); David Mattison was an associate editor (1981-1982); David Day was a guest editor for three issues (1975, 1976, 1977); Robert Levine was a guest editor for two issues (1975).
